My pieces before I ever touch a canvas, sheet or rod of glass, or skein, as visions that come to me in ordinary moments. Working in bold color and geometric forms, I bring these visions to life across mediums, iterating the process until the piece matches the vision. The compositions may be simple, but I believe they carry more than they first appear to. They point to something true about my own life, and about the wider world I'm moving through, even when I can't name what that something is until the piece is finished.
That same instinct (follow the vision, choose the materials, trust the process) carries into everything I make. I'm drawn to mediums and materials that both resist total control and demand absolute precision. Moving between paint, glass, fiber, metal, and beads keeps me honest about what each material wants to do rather than what I want to force it into.
Above all, color is my subject. I feel the emotion of every color: how it holds a mood, a memory, a place, and work to translate those elements into physical objects.
